HFBC250-2DW/G: 14.4–154 V input, 250 W output for rail electronics

Fortec Power expands its railway-compliant DC/DC converter portfolio with the HFBC250-2DW/G. The compact 250 W converter complies with EN 50155 and EN 50121-3-2 and provides an additional 5 V auxiliary output (5 W) alongside the main output—for example to supply peripherals in PC/communication boxes (CompactPCI Serial). Railway EMC can be met with external components, avoiding additional internal circuitry. Integrated functions include active inrush current limiting (30 A), reverse-polarity protection, overvoltage/overcurrent/overtemperature protection (OVP/OCP/OTP) and a 10 ms hold-up time to bridge short input interruptions. A single converter covers the common 24–110 V nominal input range (±40%), simplifying design-in and approvals. The galvanically isolated HFBC250-2DW/G supports temperature classes OT4, ST1 and ST2 and delivers 250 W at 91–95% efficiency across the full temperature range, without derating. Thermal design is straightforward: natural convection and heat transfer via the housing underside are sufficient. The PCB material is based on fire safety testing to EN 45545-2 (HL3).
