New DC/DC Converter for Railway Applications – Under Development

For demanding railway and transportation applications, we are currently developing a new compact DC/DC converter with 50 W output power. The converter is specifically designed for reliable operation under harsh environmental conditions and complies with all relevant railway standards.

• Ultra-wide input voltage range: 14.4 V to 154 V DC
• Output voltage: 12 V DC
• Output power: 50 W without derating
• Compact dimensions: 84 × 46.3 × 24 mm
• Cooling concept: Conduction cooled
• Manufacturing: Fully SMD assembled

The DC/DC converter is designed and tested in accordance with applicable railway standards:

• EN 50155
• EN 50121‑3‑2 (EMC)
• EN 45545‑2 (Fire protection)
• EN 61373 (Shock and vibration)

• Integrated reverse polarity protection

Cost‑Optimized Variant Available

In addition, a cost‑optimized version based on the MKA50‑W/O is available. This variant does not include:

• Reverse polarity protection
• Input fuse
