Application in railroad safety systems

Highly reliable solutions for axle counters

Kundenspezifischer DC/DC-Wandler für Achsenzähler in der Bahntechnik

Azle60-W - Customized DC/DC converter for axle counters

The galvanically isolated DC-DC converter supplies a safety application that drives axle counters and controls rail areas for traffic accordingly.

Special features:

The original 24 V and 60 V solutions are replaced by a single DC/DC converter. The wide input range from 14.4 V to 85 V helps to reduce the customer's model diversity. Integrated is active reverse polarity protection, active inrush current limiting, and 10ms power failure bypass time. Continuous power is 60 W, however, double loading up to 5 seconds can be done without limitations.

The output voltage is 120 V, protection against overcurrent, overvoltage and overtemperature helps to protect the downstream applications from overload.

The efficiency of the 4HP converter is consistently above 84%, depending on the applied input voltage. Parallel connectivity with exact power distribution, redundancy operation, hot swap, surf-proof outputs and the temperature range of -40 °C to 85 °C are characteristics of this sophisticated converter.

The plug-and-play solution supports the demanding EMC requirements for ISDN signals to ensure interference-free radio communication. This required switching frequencies of the converter stages of > 300 kHz with over 3000 Vdc isolation.

High environmental requirements as well as a MTBF value > 760,000 h according to MIL-HDBK-217-F complete the package.
