In the course of the product update and for overseas use, the DC/DC converter was implemented. The plug-and-play solution had the specification that it was possible to retrofit already existing units.
The ultra-wide input range of 14.4 V to 154 V can be used for all known nominal input voltages according to EN 50155. This facilitates the subsequent qualification of the customer's own assembly and reduces inventory costs. Especially for worldwide use, the converter is equipped with a RIA 12 filter, which withstands voltages according to waveform A...G without damage or interruption. Furthermore, the increased protection against surge according to IEEE 1482.1 (up to 80 J source engergy) is guaranteed.
The 43 VDC output power is distributed over three outputs with 5.1 V, 12 V and -12 V. In case of input voltage failure, the outputs will continue to operate for up to 20ms to safely shut down the system in case of emergency until all relevant data is saved. The inrush current is limited to 8A, reverse polarity protection is secured up to 160 V.
The appropriate selection of components allows operation and storage down to -55 °C. The exceptionally low temperatures are requirements of the customer, apart from the valid railroad standard EN 50155. Despite cramped installation conditions, a permanent function up to 70 °C is guaranteed, up to 85 °C for at least 10 minutes, in each case without derating. This can only be achieved by a good design-in in order to reduce the thermal load on the component. The delta from the hot spot to the ambient temperature is max. 15 °C.
An internal chip is written with the customer's own serial number so that the customer can prove a unique allocation of the individual power supply, which also fits in with the 100 % traceability of all components used in the production process by Autronic in DC/DC converter production. The complete traceability of all components used is standard at Autronic.
Fire protection according to NF F (French standard) and EN 45445-2 is ensured, the theoretical calculated reliability in the hardest application case is over 1.1 million hours according to IEC62380 (60 °C).
